TIM WRIGHT, HORN

Tim Wright, from Grand Ledge, Michigan, started playing trumpet in 3rd grade before switching to french horn after hearing his older brother play. His brother was glad Tim chose to play French horn and told him “There are too many trumpet players in the world anyway." From there, Tim’s passion for French horn and music grew stronger.

Wright began studying horn with Dr. Dale Bartlett in 4th grade and continued with band and marching band in middle school and high school. Tim has competed in District and State Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA) Solo and Ensemble, receiving many first division ratings and a perfect score of 100 in Proficiency I.

Throughout his high school career, Wright achieved great heights playing in the Blue Lake Symphony Orchestra twice, once as 2nd chair and once as principal horn. He had the opportunity to perform in the Michigan Youth Arts Festival (MYAF) Orchestra where he was 4th chair. He has also been in the All-State High School Band and made two appearances in the All-State Orchestra.

Wright was accepted with significant scholarships to Western Michigan University, Central Michigan University, and Michigan State University. He attends Michigan State University where he has been a member of the Spartan Marching Band for two years. His freshman year he was principal horn of the MSU Symphony Band and currently holds a position in the prestigious Wind Symphony. Tim is pursuing a degree in Music Education and studies under Corbin Wagner.
