THOMAS VIEIRA, TRUMPET

 

Thomas Vieira is from Lake Orion, Michigan, where he attended Lake Orion High School. While there, he auditioned into the top performing ensemble his last three years and also served as the drum major of the Lake Orion High School Dragon Marching Band for his final two years. Thomas was named to the MSBOA All State Band in 2013, and performed with Michigan Youth Arts Festival ensembles from 2011-2013 throughout high school.

 

An active freelance musician around Southeast Michigan, Thomas has performed in a variety of venues with varying styles.  During the summer, he performs as lead trumpet with Carolina Crown, a world class Drum Corps located in Fort Mill, South Carolina. During his first year, 2013, the corps caputred its first Drum Corps International (DCI) World Championship. He has also performed as lead trumpet and soloist for the Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps, Based out of Toledo, OH. Thomas currently serves as Brass Caption Head of the Lamphere High School Marching Band in Madison Heights, MI.

 

Thomas was named principal trumpet of the Symphony Band and a member of the Michigan State University Symphony Orchestra his freshman year. He currently performs with the MSU Wind Symphony, Under the direction of Dr. Kevin Sedatole. Thomas was also a part of the 2013 MSU Wind Symphony's tour to Pennsylvania State University and the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York City. His primary teachers have included Bill Walters, Gordon Simmons, and Richard Illman. He is currently pursuing a degree in Music Education.
