PUJAN BHATTARAI, TRUMPET

 

Pujan Bhattarai is from Wixom, Michigan and began playing the trumpet in 6th grade. He continued throughout middle school and high school and was a member of the top band at Walled Lake Western High School. He was also a featured soloist in the Warrior Marching Band.

 

In his junior and senior years of high school, Pujan was named a member of the Michigan All-State Band. He was also selected to perform in the Michigan Youth Arts Festival (MYAF) All-State Orchestra based on excellent ratings at the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA) State Solo and Ensemble Festival. Along with the All-State Orchestra, Pujan was also named second trumpet of the MYAF All-State Jazz Band.

 

Pujan is a two-year member of the Spartan Marching Band (SMB). In the SMB, Pujan has achieved high placement playing the E-flat cornet in his first two years, an accomplishment rare for such a young age. As a freshman, Pujan toured with the Michigan State University Wind Symphony to Pennsylvania State University and Carnegie Hall in New York City. Pujan is again a member of the Wind Symphony this year. He is pursuing a major in Music Education and studying trumpet under Rich Illman.
